I had some extra snaps taken at Santa Monica beach in California. I’m using the Nikon D800e with a 24~85mm f/2.8D zoom lens. And yes, I am still having fun with filters.
I took these snaps with my Nikon D800e DSLR using a 24~85mm f/2.8D zoom lens. I totally dig my beast with my go-to zoom lens. Although with its hefty combined weight, the balance feels good to me.
It was a fun day at the beach. I took the beast with a zoom lens and had a little fun with filters.
It’s amazing how weather affects us. I took a walk to the beach with my beast and 24~85mm f/2.8 lens. A gray day with a slight chance of rain. This made it ideal for some black and white filtering with images.
Hey! FUN WITH FILTERS!
I took a walk along the boardwalk on a bright sunny afternoon in Venice, California. I had the beast with me along with a 24~85 f/2.8 Zoom lens. Considering all the madness going on in the news, I needed time away to recharge my coping mechanism. It looked like everyone here at the beach felt the same way, too.
This is from the shoebox. A collection of snaps that I forgot to add to other posts. On the other hand, FUN WITH FILTERS! I took these snaps with the beast and a zoom lens at Venice Beach, California. It was a great day to have a little fun in the sun.
I came out to find my shadow. Apparently a lot of people did the same. Fun times with filters at the beach.
I took a walk to the beach to clear my head and take a break away from internet and TV. It was beautiful outside and perfect for finding ideal subjects to photograph. I decided to have a little fun with filters, too.
Oh how spring has sprung. An oops-a-daisy time to remind us of ideals, and hope. To let us be goofy, and roll with laughter. Today was a good day to acknowledge that. Hope your day was good.
It was a lazy quiet afternoon the other day after all that rain the past few days. I took the beast out for a walk by Venice Beach and got lost in the sunshine.
Went for a walk and wound up staring at the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). Yes, I do love romantic walks along the beach…but not in January. It was crazy cold outside. With this set I was going for a more painterly effect using blur filters and color boost.
It’s cold here. And it’s gray outside. So naturally I went for a walk around the neighborhood with my beast and 50mm lens. The settings were f/5.6 at 1/40 with a 640 ISO. Plus I had some fun with filters and borders.
Enjoying the cold weather? Not too many people were out strolling the sidewalks, but for a few brave souls on bicycles and skateboards. I did enjoy the walk.
I do love sunsets. But the best time to hang out in Santa Monica is during twilight. I shot with my beast and a 50mm f/1.4 prime. I set the ISO at 1600 using two aperture settings–2.0 and 5.6. I used whatever was stable to rest the camera for long exposures with f/5.6. Then with an f/2.0 aperture and setting my shutter to 1/60, I braced my elbows for hand-held shots.
Having fun with filters with these snaps from the shoebox. I took these images with the Nikon D800e and various lenses.
Having fun at Venice beach with tints and filters. Next week Santa Claus is comin’ to town.
It was fun times with my beast and filters.
As one day ends, another begins. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Took the beast and a 50mm lens out to the beach to have a look around. It was chilly, but clear considering the rain we had the day before. I’m having fun with filters and blur tilting.
Some days I get restless and wander around the neighborhood with my camera. When I return home I’ll move the images to my hard drive and let it settle. Later, maybe a week, or in this case months will pass before I view those images. It’s a process of rediscovery and suddenly what was old is new again. It gives me a fresh point of view of my images and breaks the monotony of venturing out again.
These are the last batch of snaps from my walkabout at the beach.
I took a walk to the beach just before sunset with my Nikon D800e and a 50mm f/1.4 lens.
This summer I’ve been out with my beast and a 50mm lens and behaving like a shutterbug. Moreover, I’ve been playing around with the sunny 16 rule and challenging myself in getting back to basics. It’s been fun. Now with all these snaps in my hard drive, it’s time to archive.
This is my last batch of images from a sunny 16 day on the Venice Boardwalk in Venice, CA. Fun times with filters and my Nikon D800e with 50mm f/1.4 lens.
These are the last of my snaps along Pacific Palisades in Santa Monica, CA. Taken with my D800e with a 50mm f/1.4 lens and a little fun with filters.
Scenes from my walkabout in Palisades Park. It was a postcard day at the beach in Santa Monica. The sunlight was diffuse with a light overcast, softening the shadows and adding a soft glow along the edges. I had a little fun with filters. All shot with my D800e and a 50mm f/1.4 lens. I’ll have more to share later on.
These are more scenes on the Venice Boardwalk in Venice, CA. With this batch I was having fun with blur and grain (digital noise). I took a lot of snaps that day, and I’ll come back to them later. Right now I’m enjoying using my beast with the 50mm lens. I hope you all have fun with your snappers.
More scenes from the Venice Boardwalk. I’m playing around with vignettes and blur. Shot with Nikon D800e with 50mm f/1.4 lens.
I took these during my Sunny 16 romp. I did have to make changes to my aperture and shutter speeds, naturally. But once out of the shadows, I was back to my cheery sunny 16 romp.
I hope September brings you more smiles. Keep snapping!
More fun times on a beautiful day at the beach.
